All About Us!Patches began in early 1998 when my children and I spent a year praying for a job I could do out of my home. As a single mother, home schooling four children, I felt like I needed to be home with them as much as possible. I suggested to a friend that her embroidery business needed a computer partner and she replied that I needed to do chenille patches. My response? What is that?!
Three months of research later, I was set up with my first chenille and embroidery machines. I have never had so much fun with a job before! Although the chenille sports patches are my primary business, embroidery designs are what I really enjoy. I feel like Im painting with thread. The most recent design opportunities I have had have been banners for my church. These banners are a series of 12 illustrating some of the names of God. The other is a Jesus Is Quilt first commissioned by an expectant mother in a quilt form, and now being individually framed for our church.
The third project is the Jesse Tree. This is an Advent Countdown banner for the first 24 days of December. There is a booklet that includes stories on Jesus family tree from Creation, down to His mother Mary. A banner with separate ornaments gives a hands-on feeling for families, a new ornament added to the tree each day.
